Camp OUTdoors! History

Camp OUTdoors began in 2008 in Prescott, AZ as a college project of Kado Stewart, Camp Director. The first year 42 campers attended Camp OUTdoors. We have grown exponentially in the past 12 years and now provide a unparalleled experience for up to 275 campers , and 100+ volunteers. We have grown to be the largest LGBTQ camp program of this kind in the country and work with agencies and youth from all areas of Arizona and beyond.

Hundreds of amazing volunteers have helped create the magic that is Camp OUTdoors over the past 11 years. Dani Logan, our Co-Camp Director, began as a volunteer in 2013 and became a Co-Camp Director in 2017. Dani has helped to catalyze the program forward each year since!

In 2017, Camp OUTdoors was showcased in the National Geographic Documentary, Gender Revolution; A Journey with Katie Couric and has received media coverage since inception for being a leader in creating safe and brave spaces for and with LGBTQ+ youth and young adults.
